Appleton-based actor/film producer (and NEWAA Member!) Dan Davies was recently recognized internationally as Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy at the Golden MOVIE Awards Africa for his role in "A Trip to Jamaica." He's the first American to receive a Golden Movie Award for his role in the No. 1 money-maker in Nollywood history, a feat which will be listed in the 2018 Guiness World Record Book!

Dan spent part of the summer in Iowa, Illinois, and Florida shooting a psychological thriller called 'Mr. Thursday.' A few scenes were also shot in Appleton, Wisconsin. The film stars D.B. Sweeney (Memphis Belle, Eight Men Out, Spawn, Lonesome Dove, The Cutting Edge, Gardens of Stone) along with our own Dan Davies (Ed Gein: The Musical, Tempting Fate, The Runners).

Thanks to Dan's big heart for NEWAA and his home community, we have the honor and privilege of hosting an extended World Premier Sneak Preview of 'Mr. Thursday' (Spring date TBA) in our new HQ at Foxley's Gallery in Creative Appleton Downtown.

This LIMITED SEATING one night only ticketed event will include a 'Mr. Thursday' sneak preview and trailer, with behind-the-scenes stories about making the film, working with celebrity actors, production challenges, and more! Dan's entertaining presentation will include unique, informative, and funny stories about filming in Africa, Jamaica, and all over the U.S. Audience Q&A to follow.

Guests will also have the opportunity peruse our vast array of original fine art by over 30 NE Wisconsin artists. Craft beer, wine and a variety of hot & cold beverages and light refreshments will also be available for your enjoyment this special evening.

Stay tuned for event details as they unfold!

A few cool things to celebrate:

Our Open House Celebration was a great success, bringing hundreds of people through the doors at our new HQ/gallery at Foxley's and fabulous media attention. Sold art (to very happy customers!) included original oil paintings (one was purchased within 30 minutes of doors opening!), a sculpture, framed photography, prints, several painted ceramic pieces, wearable art, art cards, and more! We also brought in a bunch of new members that day.

Within just a couple of weeks of joining NEWAA, one of our artist members was found via our online directory and commissioned for a paid local project! (Reminder: if your listing form isn't fully filled out and received by us, you won't show up in our directory and people won't be able to find you!)
